Currently we are approaching the new moon…Exciting…

This one is a new moon in Virgo, and with all things typically Virgo, it is the time to set things order and set those realistic intentions in order to bring things forward with a great sense of clarity and boldness.
Contrary to popular belief, the new moon isn’t necessarily the “dark period of letting go” Or the time to run around hexing folk…
(not that you should be doing that anyway…)
It’s never a bad time to set your protections up and around the house though if that’s what your baneful practice looks like.. and protection is always a good idea.
For this New Moon, I for one will be meditating..
Here is one of my favourite meditations to set intentions and focus on moving forward in order to manifest my desires.
You will need:
- A candle or lamp for focus (If you want to crack on with one of those little LED candles that’s fine too…. )
- Incense, herbs or a bell (Just don’t get me started on the whole White Sage rant that is trending all over #witchtok or just the internet in general…. This plant is in short supply as it is, so that is reason enough not to use it in my opinion, whether you are Native American or not!)
Or you can just use a bell!
- A journal for writing down everything that comes to you… Ideally this journal should not be used for anything else other than meditating and documenting your findings.
Herbs that I like to use are:
- Pine
- Rosemary
- Juniper
- Garden Sage (green sage you get in potted plants from the supermarket)
- Thyme
- Dragon’s Blood
- Frankinscence
Also if you don’t want to set things on fire, or have breathing issues, or live in rented accommodation that has smoke alarms everywhere and escaping Fort Knox in a Hi- Vis Jacket is easier than lighting a candle then essential oils in a diffuser also work great for this… or anything…
Either the one with the steam that comes out the top or the fan.
For the oils:
- Anything from the above list, and also Eucalyptus
How to:
Cleanse and purify your space with your tools, herbs or ring your bell…
Choose a nice quiet space without any distractions where you can be comfy and undisturbed. Sit or lay down in any position you feel comfy in.
Protection:
Light a white candle or set your lamp down to symbolise protection and divine guidance, you can visualise a circle or sphere of white light surrounding you to reinforce your protection and safeguard your energies during mediation.
Moon Connection:
Close your eyes and focus on your breath, in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Visualise this energy filling you up and connecting your body to the surface that you are laying on, all the way down to the core of the earth.
Reflection:
Imagine your intentions and goals as though you have already acheived them, and speak them out loud in the present tense.
“I have acheived a new job”
“I am acing this interview”
“I am motivated to go the gym and I feel refreshed after working out”
Focus on what changes you need to manifest these goals… What do you need to do?
How can you break those things down into tiny steps?
Manifestation is more than just focusing the intention, but is also setting the focus into action in order to bring those desires forward.
Visualisation:
Visualise a path to your goals with all of the steps as small bricks on the road to your journey… I like to imagine the Yellow Brick Road from Wizard of Oz… Because well…. I am nostalgic and a bit on the childish side, and there is nothing wrong with adding a little fun into one’s practice…. Especially Whimsy!
At this point you are going to require
FOCUS:
Take your journal and write down any key points as soon as they come up, and if it helps draw a diagram, mindmap or a diagram to help you to break down all that came through. It also helps you to get those ideas flowing, especially if the mission you would like to embark on requires leadership or creativity.
ANCHORING:
Take a stone or crystal of your choosing in your hands and visualise the pulsating energy of the stone anchoring your dreams into the waking world and bringing them into physical being.
Carry this stone with you for the full moon cycle as a reminder and an amulet if you like. This stone can be anything you fancy, pebbles from the beach or river or a nature walk are enough, and they are treasured and used in many folk practices.
Stones I like to work with are:
* Hag stones (stones with naturally occuring holes in them that I found on the beach)
* White Quartz- it amplifies all energy so be mindful if working with this stone because it can also amplify the negativity you may have if you are half in half out of this meditation, and get hung up on “what ifs?” or “I hope this works”
* Rose Quartz- It has a gentle and soothing energy that I find particularly grounding because I myself am an anxious bean at times.
Remember that this meditation is only a guideline, and as everything else… Your practice is as unique as you are.
Feel free to tweak it to a manner of your choosing, honour a deity if you want, burn whatever herbs that are sacred to your ancestors, call in your ancestors if you’re feeling brave. (But be mindful you may get some tough love if you do!)
The key to any successful meditation is concentration, intention, and conncetion to the divine and your own energies.
Have fun and Blessed be!
